Getting here

Via Nyerere Bridge

The relatively new and easier route from the airport or city. Cross Nyerere Bridge, pay the small bridge fare — on the other side, the pace of things shifts. Follow the road south through Kigamboni village, past the palms until you arrive at Kipepeo.

Via Kivukoni Ferry

From the city centre, take the Kivukoni Ferry across the harbour. The crossing takes less than ten minutes. From the landing, Kipepeo is a short drive down the coast.

No booking needed. The beach, bar and restaurant are always open, and you are always welcome. During weekends and public holidays, a small redeemable beach coupon is required for day visitors. The full value is redeemable against food or drinks from our menu.

Every season has its own rhythmWhen to come

Jun – Oct Dry season. The best time to visit. Clear skies, calm seas, consistent sunshine and a gentle breeze.
Nov – Dec Short rains. Brief afternoon showers, with plenty of warm coastal days in between.
Mar – May Long rains. Heavier and more persistent, bringing a greener, quieter version of the coast.

Weekdays vs. Weekends

Weekends — particularly Saturday afternoons — are when Kipepeo is at its most social. The beach is alive and full. Weekdays are something else entirely. Come on a Tuesday and the beach is largely yours: still, unhurried, and majestic.

Opening hours

The beach, bar and restaurant are open daily from 8am to 10pm for day visitors and overnight guests alike. Walk-ins are always welcome. During weekends and public holidays, our beachfront spaces are especially popular.

A small redeemable beach coupon is therefore required for day visitors, with the full value redeemable against any food or drinks from our menu.
